Breaking in your new silk

Silk is an investment that can last for years under the right conditions. Unfortunately, if the silk is not treated properly the first few times they are used and washed, the silk quickly loses shine and luster. Silk must be washed thoroughly by hand at least the first few times.

Experts suggest that instead of using a washing machine you should wash new silk by hand in lukewarm water, silk detergent and rub very gently during the cleaning process. Silk should not be allowed to soak for longer. Gently press the silk against the inside of an empty tub, basin or sink. Wrap the silk in a large towel and twist gently to remove water. In addition,  hang the silk to dry either indoors or outdoors, but not in direct sunlight, which can damage the silk fibers

We sell enzyme-free soap so it can be purchased along with silk products.

Do not use powdered detergent, shampoo or detergent.

Never mix white silk with other colors.
Use a washing pouch.

A washing instructions from the manufacturer should be followed carefully else you risk damaging its silk.

Hand washing silk:

Give the fabric a final rinse with cold water to remove the vinegar smell. You can use an iron with low-medium heat while the silk is still a little damp, put a cotton sheet or another on the ironing board. Always use a mild detergent and a small amount of soap.

Customer Review

Review from Marie
I have been through chemotherapy, making my skin very delicate and sensitive. Being able to put the head on a pillow with silk upholstery has been a really good experience. There has been a big difference between sleeping on silk (versus cotton), as the silk is both cool, soft and good for regulating temperature and moisture. The silk even embraces the skin so it is highly recommended. Once again Thank you so much, loving greetings Marie
