What does GSM mean? Understand the thickness and quality of woven and kitted fabrics.

Silk weight GSM of fabric:

GSM stands for 'Gram per square meter' and indicates the weight of fabric in grams per squaremeter. This is an important specification for textile engineers as it helps to understand and produce fabric. By knowing the GSM, we can compare fabrics and find out which fabric is heavier or lighter.

Procedure:

GSM is a unit of measurement that describes the thickness and weight of silk. For example, 120gsm means that one square meter of the fabric weighs 120 grams. The higher the GSM, the thicker and heavier the silk, which typically means more durability and a luxurious feel. Silk with 120gsm may feel lighter and more breathable, while 160gsm feels denser and more exclusive.
