Silky-Dream® is a 100% Danish family-owned business, founded by Henrik and Anette Egsgaard in Hedensted. Behind the webshop lies a personal and moving story of courage, innovation, and a passion for silk.
Silk became the way forward – from pain to independence
In 2006, Anette Egsgaard suffered a herniated disc, leading to daily phantom pain and sleep disturbances. The future seemed to point toward early retirement – until she discovered that silk bedding could bring relief and calm.
Silk’s natural content of sericin, proteins, and amino acids closely resembles the skin’s own structure and has a soothing effect. This marked the beginning of Silky-Dream, which today offers silk products for both men and women – including silk underwear, bedding, and nightwear.
From flex job to shared business
Henrik Egsgaard chose to hire his wife Anette through a flex job in their newly founded company. This gave her the opportunity to contribute actively – and avoid early retirement. Today, Anette works as a buyer and DTP designer in the company, based at Kærvej 9 in Gammelsole.
– If I had gone on early retirement, I would have died of boredom. I'm relieved the municipality changed its mind, says Anette, who has a broad background in IT, sales, finance, and education – and previously ran a dress rental business.
Silk brings calm – and comfort for everyone
Although Anette still lives with pain, silk has made a big difference. She describes it as soft, temperature-regulating, and pleasant on the skin. And it’s not just people with pain who love silk – many customers choose it for its comfort, luxury, and hypoallergenic qualities.
– Silk gives me peace at night. It’s wonderful to lie in and wear, says Anette, who found the company’s suppliers through online research.
