Over the past few years, I’ve struggled with intense hot flushes at night. I wake up boiling and drenched in sweat, throw off the duvet, and later end up freezing because I’m lying uncovered in soaked nightwear.

Then I bought a nightgown made of pure silk – a thin and delicate one. I was worried I might get cold, but that wasn’t a problem at all. The silk prevents me from getting soaked in the same way and regulates temperature far better than my old cotton nightgown.

I don’t believe the silk nightgown reduces the number of hot flushes, but now I only wake up during the worst ones. Even then, I don’t feel wet like I used to. During the milder flushes, the thin silk keeps me from overheating and getting wet enough to wake up. And during the stronger ones, although I still sweat, the silk absorbs the moisture so it doesn’t feel damp.

After going through chemotherapy, my skin became extremely delicate and sensitive. Resting my head on a pillow with a silk cover has been a truly soothing experience.

There’s a noticeable difference sleeping on silk compared to cotton – silk feels cool, soft, and helps regulate both temperature and moisture. It gently embraces the skin without irritation, which makes it ideal for anyone with sensitive skin.

I received a pair of silk panties today (18 cm, size L), and they are truly wonderful. After undergoing urostomy surgery in February due to bladder cancer, I’ve tried countless types of briefs – all of which caused discomfort.

Now I’ve finally found the right ones. They’re incredibly soft and comfortable, and today I ordered six more pairs. I normally wear size 38, but I chose size L so they sit comfortably above the stoma.

I’ve lived with Parkinson’s for five years, and over the past year, I haven’t been able to turn over in bed without waking up. Each night, I had to sit up, reposition myself, and lie down again – sometimes 15 to 20 times a night.

I’m super happy with my ski underwear from Silky-Dream. It takes up almost no space, feels barely noticeable – and is incredibly comfortable.

I had wished for a silk pajama set as a birthday gift – and I got it! Unfortunately, the pants were a bit too small. Anette kindly exchanged the set for another model, and I transferred the price difference to the shop’s account.

When the new set arrived, the pants were still a little tight, so I called Anette. It turned out we were almost the same size, so she found a model that suited her and sent it to me. Over the autumn, I lost a significant amount of weight through Time Restricted Feeding and weekly fasting – a method that’s both effective and sustainable. But shedding those extra 10 kg of insulation threw my body’s thermostat completely off balance. It’ll take months before it adjusts to the new conditions.

In the meantime, having the right clothing for every temperature is essential – and silk has been absolutely amazing. I think of silk as an extra layer of skin: it’s made of protein, it insulates without trapping heat, it’s breathable, and it doesn’t get damp. It’s the best fabric I’ve found for regulating temperature whether I’m slightly cold or slightly warm.

With synthetic fabrics, even those that mimic silk, I often experience itchiness or irritation – which makes me suspect they’re not great for the skin. One unexpected benefit of silk is that it never smells and lasts much longer before needing a wash or airing out. That’s likely because it absorbs far less moisture than cotton or most other fabrics, which means fewer microbes, bacteria, and dust mites.

The same applies to bamboo fabric, though it’s often blended with elastane to make it stretchy – probably because bamboo has short fibers that are harder to spin into fabric.
